Our achievements
Over the last few years we have achieved some real wins for the advertisers we represent.
Recently ISBA has:
Played a key role in staving off more legislation by persuading the Government and broadcasting regulator Ofcom to extend self-regulation of advertising from non-broadcast to broadcast media.
Helped secure (and remains engaged in the 2008 review of) the Contract Rights Renewal mechanism which has saved advertisers almost £1.5 billion on ITV1 since 2003.
Successfully argued that new EU rules should not criminalise certain alleged unfair practices, including “pester power”, which are already subject to UK advertising codes.
Produced, with the IPA, a voluntary protocol designed to help agencies manage the issues around the TUPE employment law.
Together with the IPA and others, developed and published the industry-acclaimed best practice series of guides for clients wanting to build successful and effective relationships with their agencies.
Persuaded the UK’s magazine publishers to start issuing more detailed circulation figures, giving advertisers a more transparent system and greater confidence over allocating marketing spend.
Successfully lobbied JCDecaux to introduce the UK's first real-time ‘verification of posting’ system. The introduction of JCDecaux Live! makes the company entirely accountable to its clients.
