Two DM companies become first to achieve green charter mark
2 Feb 2010
The first two organisations to take part in the new PAS 2020 environmental charter for direct marketers have received their certification, the British Standards Institution (BSI) has announced.
COI, the government’s communications arm and a leading ISBA member, along with information management company Williams Lea, have both completed the stringent accreditation process and have reduced the environmental impact of their direct marketing.
ISBA is a founder sponsor of PAS 2020 and, together with the DMA, Royal Mail and Acxiom, launched the scheme in January 2009.

COI’s Marc Michaels (right) said: “My green champion Rebecca Vaux [also pictured] and I have worked hard to create the systems and management processes, and train our professional team to adhere to the rigour of PAS 2020.
“We have also liaised closely with our supplier base to ensure they have the relevant certifications that demonstrate they too adhere to strict sustainable standards; an essential part of the new certification scheme.”
