ISBA responds to appointment of new Culture Secretary

John Whittingdale becomes new Culture Secretary in reshuffle

ISBA – the voice of British advertisers, has welcomed the appointment of John Wittingdale to Culture Secretary for the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. Whittingdale was the DCMS Select Committee Chairmen since 2005.

 Ian Twinn, ISBA’s Director of Public Affairs, said:

“John Wittingdale bring with him vast experience and understanding of the issues facing the Department. Making him a good choice for Culture Secretary, particularly given the considerable contribution made to DCMS Select Committee for the past 10 years. I am confident that John will understand the concerns of responsible advertisers and appreciate the role they play in the national interest.”

“His promotion shows how highly he is regarded and we look forward to working with him and continuing the good relationship we have with this department.” 

Twinn also thanked Sajid Javid for his time at DCMS office:

“Sajid brought a clear understanding of the creative industries and especially to advertising’s importance to the economy having come from a strong business background. We valued his support for responsible advertisers which he takes with him as the new Business Secretary."
