Scope of application
Welcome to the official web site of ISBA – the Voice of British Advertisers (The Incorporated Society of British Advertisers Ltd). We maintain this site to enable both public visitors and registered users to access information about its activities and initiatives.

This privacy policy applies to all visitors and registered users entering this site, regardless of the physical location of the individual accessing user. By entering this site you are expressly accepting the conditions outlined below.

This privacy policy does not apply to external sites accessible from links offered on this site.

Please note that this privacy policy may be changed and/or amended from time to time and that by re-entering this site you will accept those changed or amended clauses of the privacy policy at the time of re-entry.

Collection, use and processing of personal data
ISBA only collects personal data relating to registered users who voluntarily decided to enter their data and expressly gave their consent.

Personal data you are asked for includes:

When logging in to the registered users' area, with a username and password, registered users can:

 Access, change and update personal details (organisation, title, email, address and phone/fax number);

Record and update preferences for information and ISBA communications by post as well as electronically

Indicate/change which ISBA working groups and committees they belong to;

Register for ISBA's working group meetings/events.

You will also be asked to accept this privacy policy and specifically the use of cookies.  Each year you will be prompted to look again at the cookies and privacy policy and accept it.  We do this so that you are aware of how we use the information we collect and to comply with the legal requirement that we have your consent. This law is overseen in the UK by the ICO.

Use of the data

The personal data we collect is used for administrative management tasks, for example to keep our database up-to-date, for logistical purposes to contact and communicate with registered users, for servicing registered users and helping to keep registered users informed of our activities, and for tracking purposes (for example to analyse who logs in and who downloads/accesses parts of this site and documents).

The personal data that registered users provide is only for the processing purposes expressly agreed and will not be processed or transferred beyond the limits of this privacy policy. In exceptional cases, should any further processing be required, ISBA will only do so after having obtained registered users' explicit consent to process the data further.

Disclosure to third parties/transfer of personal data abroad

ISBA does not disclose or share any personal data about you collected on this site with anyone outside ISBA (except in exceptional cases with your explicit consent). Or when required to do so by any statutory obligation or official or court order.

Collection, use and processing of non-personal data

IP addresses
When visiting this site, visitors' IP addresses are automatically collected for system administration and statistical purposes in order to optimise the user experience of this site.

Depending on the circumstances, collected IP address data may allow conclusions to be drawn about visitors' interaction with this site. However, no personal data are used in this context. IP address data are used solely after having been rendered anonymous and are not stored by ISBA.

When ISBA transfers IP addresses to an external service-provider (such as a web-design agency or web hosting company), technical and organisational measures will be taken which guarantee, in so far as it is in ISBA's power, that their transmission occurs in conformity with UK personal data protection legislation. To facilitate the use of this site, ISBA uses some "cookies". Cookies are bits of text that are placed on your computer's hard drive when you visit websites. ISBA uses first-party cookies to retain registered users' passwords so that the log-in process is simpler and hassle-free.

ASP.NET_SessionId – This is generic ASP.NET cookie and will store the session information

.SFAUTH-ISBA  - Authentication Cookie used for authenticate users with ISBA

.SFROLES-ISBA -  Roles Cookie used for storing all the Roles belonging to the given user.

As part of Google Analytics ISBA also uses first-party cookies (learn more about Google Analytics on to monitor traffic to this site. The longest cookie lifespan of these cookies is two years.

Browser settings: The majority of web browsers automatically accept cookies. You can avoid this by changing the settings of your browser.

ISBA does not use third party cookies or non-HTTP Local Shared Objects (LSO) cookies such as Flash or Silverlight.

Confidentiality and security
We will store your data safely and take all reasonable precautionary measures to protect them against loss, abuse or changes. To try to prevent unauthorised access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the correct use of information, ISBA has implemented appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information collected on this site.

ISBA's employees or any of ISBA's contractual partners who have access to your data in order to provide services to ISBA (e.g. its online domain/website hosting supplier, its database software supplier) are contractually obliged to keep such information in confidence and may not use these data for any other purpose.  

Stored data will be deleted by ISBA as soon as ISBA no longer requires it for the purposes concerned.

Your rights and ways to contact ISBA.

You are entitled to access to your personal data collected by ISBA, to rectify them and ask, at any time, for their deletion and to revoke your consent to their use or processing with future effect.
