ISBA DG Simon Michaelides joins History of Advertising Trust’s Board

The History of Advertising Trust (HAT), the world’s largest advertising archive, is delighted to announce that Simon Michaelides, Director General of ISBA, has accepted an invitation to join the Board of Trustees at a time of historic significance for both organisations.

HAT is 50 years old this year and, as curators of the Association’s archive, provided much of the material for ISBA’s 125-year celebrations.

HAT’s Chair, Tom Knox, said: “Only ISBA represents brand owners advertising in the UK and after Phil Smith retired as Trustee after his nine year term, we are delighted that Simon has agreed to join the Board, as his experience brand-side will be vital to our strategy for growing partnerships with advertisers. We already curate archives on behalf of some household names - Butlin’s, Ginsters, Heinz, Hovis, McVitie’s and Vimto - who use us as an extension of their marketing, PR or brand protection teams.”

Commenting on his appointment, Simon Michaelides added: “Having recently attended my first HAT board meeting, it’s clear that the Trustees are fully engaged, representing the industry’s diversity of agencies, distribution, marketing, media law, education and analytics. HAT’s clients not only value their heritage but use it every day to promote their brands. After 50 years and a new tag line of Look Back to Move Forwards, HAT remains the go-to organisation for agencies needing a deep dive into previous campaigns when pitching, whilst CMOs can use the archive to immerse their teams in their brand’s culture. As a historian myself, there were many compelling reasons to join.”
