ISBA's reaction on the appointment of Nadine Dorries as Culture Secretary

“We welcome Nadine Dorries to the role of Culture Secretary – the sixth person to occupy the post in the last four years.

“In that time we have faced unprecedented disruption as an industry, from the impact of leaving the EU to the COVID-19 pandemic – not to mention the tidal wave of consultations, policy announcements, and regulatory changes which we continue to face.

“Our members need certainty to enable them to help drive the economic recovery. They also need a government which engages meaningfully with industry to shape its future direction; which reaffirms its support for the gold standard self-regulatory system; and which is willing to hear evidence in order to make policy that will make a real difference.

“Advertising is at the heart of ‘building back better’. We look forward to discussing with the new Culture Secretary how the investment we make and the technology we employ can play their part in meeting the challenges that we all agree are urgent.”
