Cookieless Futures Session: Part 5

A common first reaction to the decline of the third-party cookie was to ignore it; the second, to imagine it could be fixed ‘as is’. The most optimistic in the industry believe that an identity solution will be found and normal business resumed. Our belief is that identity as we know it today is over and only those that have a relationship with the user will have the ability to understand and target audiences moving forward. Some solutions point to logged-in solutions, but for all but a few publishers and platforms, this is unlikely to happen. Instead of trying to replicate a system that identifies every user, it’s time to rethink the landscape. You don’t need to know who someone is to give them what they want.
