The proposed Sky / ITV merger has moved to the next stage of the regulatory process, following the Culture Secretary’s decision to issue a Public Interest Intervention Notice.
In August, ISBA submitted its initial views on the proposed merger to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), reflecting engagement with members on their priorities and concerns.
Today, Lisa Nandy, Culture Secretary issued a Public Interest Intervention Notice, enabling Ofcom and the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to consider the deal and its potential impact.
The proposed merger is one of the most significant developments in the UK media market for many years. Advertisers invest billions of pounds in UK media, and it is important that their interests are fully considered throughout the process, including competition, transparency, independent measurement and advertiser protections.
ISBA will continue to engage with regulators and work closely with members through our Broadcast Taskforce to represent their views and priorities as the review progresses.
